NEC Merit Scholarship 2025 – Apply Online for North East Students
📢 North Eastern Council (NEC) has released the official notification for the NEC Merit Scholarship 2025-2026 . This scholarship aims to support meritorious students from the North Eastern Region (NER) pursuing Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. courses in recognized institutions within or outside the North-East region (within India).
Interested and eligible students can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) .

NEC Merit Scholarship 2025 – Eligibility Criteria
Criteria Details Domicile Permanent resident of any North Eastern State Duration Scholarship available for the entire duration of the course subject to renewal conditions Other Scholarships Students must not be receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance Course Type Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. Family Income Annual family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh Course Start Year Scholarship applicable only for the year of course commencement

Selection Process for NEC Merit Scholarship 2025
Selection will be purely on merit basis .
Merit lists will be prepared based on marks obtained in qualifying examinations.
For M.Phil. and Ph.D. students , selection will depend on the topic of research relevant to the North East Region.
Preference will be given to applied and regional problem-solving research topics over theoretical research.

Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) or Certificate of Identification (COI) for Sikkim.Income Certificate from a competent authority.Bank Account Passbook in the applicant’s name.Previous Qualifying Examination Marksheet .Synopsis for M.Phil/Ph.D. candidates signed by an authorized person.Any other documents as required by the NSP guidelines.
